TOP TOOL ON ANY JOB SITE
THE SUPER TOOL WE ALWAYS WANT ON OUR JOBS!
We’ve done it the easy way, we’ve done it the hard way, with this tool its always done the best way!
About 20 years ago, I learned about heavy equipment on the job sites. Forklift or Telehandlers is a machine with hydraulic power to lift, move, and reach over any new construction or renovation if the space is available. Having a machine such as a forklift gives us the opportunity to be efficient and helpful with the building process. So when people ask about the most useful and important tool in the job site, I would answer with it being a forklift, if you are renovating or building a new house. I know what you are probably thinking but let's be honest, in the last couple years it’s been hard to find people who want to work in construction. Having two or three guys along with the assistance of the machine you can definitely build anything without all the additional expenses and labor.
Of course we need a lot of tools in the trades but by using a basket for more mobility if you need to reach safely to install soffit and fascia boards and if you have the space for the machine this will be much more fun and safer than trying to level an extension ladder.
A telescopic handler forklift, often simply referred to as a telehandler, can be a crucial tool on a job site for a variety of reasons. Here are some key reasons why a telehandler may be considered the most important tool:
Versatility: Telehandlers are highly versatile machines that can perform multiple tasks on a job site. They can function as forklifts, cranes, and even aerial work platforms with the right attachments. This versatility reduces the need for multiple specialized machines, saving both time and resources such as pad space.
Reach and Height: Telehandlers are designed to reach high places and can extend their booms to significant heights. This feature is essential for tasks such as stacking materials, loading/unloading trucks, and working on multi-story construction projects. We commonly use it to raise walls that may be too tall or heavy to lift. We also use it to lift up the roof trusses to set them in place with ease instead of straining to get them in line.
Load Capacity: Telehandlers typically have a higher load capacity compared to traditional forklifts. They can handle heavy loads and reach greater heights, making them suitable for a wide range of lifting and material handling tasks. A machine that can set an entire pallet of shingles on the roof is the kind of machine I think we all need as builders at some point
Rough Terrain Capability: Many telehandlers are equipped with rugged, off-road tires and all-wheel drive, making them suitable for rough and uneven terrain. This capability is crucial on construction sites with varying ground conditions.
Compact Design: Telehandlers are often more compact than other heavy machinery, allowing them to maneuver in tight spaces. This is particularly important on congested job sites where space is limited.
Time Efficiency: Telehandlers can significantly improve productivity and efficiency on a job site. Their ability to reach heights and handle heavy loads quickly can reduce the time needed to complete various tasks.
Safety: Telehandlers come with safety features such as stability controls, load sensors, and operator cabs with good visibility. These features enhance job site safety, reducing the risk of accidents.
Attachment Compatibility: Telehandlers can be equipped with various attachments, such as pallet forks, buckets, jibs, and platforms. This adaptability allows them to perform a wide range of tasks, further enhancing their utility.
Cost Savings: Using a telehandler with the right attachments can eliminate the need for renting or purchasing multiple specialized machines, leading to cost savings in equipment acquisition and maintenance.
Reduced Manual Labor: By handling heavy loads and reaching high places, telehandlers can reduce the need for manual labor, minimizing the physical strain on workers and potentially lowering labor costs.
Increased Job Site Efficiency: Telehandlers can efficiently move materials and equipment around a job site, improving logistics and ensuring that resources are where they are needed when they are needed.
Enhanced Construction Site Management: Telehandlers can contribute to better management of construction sites by facilitating the organization of materials, improving workflow, and supporting timely project completion.
In summary, a telescopic handler forklift, or telehandler, can be the most important tool on a job site due to its versatility, reach, load capacity, off-road capability, and efficiency, all of which contribute to improved productivity and safety. Its ability to perform various tasks with different attachments makes it a valuable asset in construction, agriculture, and industrial settings.
