THE IMPORTANCE OF TRADE SHOWS IN OUR INDUSTRY
The Importance of Trade Shows in our Industry
In 2008 I attended my First trade show or Woodworking show in Chantilly, Virginia not to far from home. It was a pretty amazing event, I had the opportunity to test and try out some woodworking equipment that i was planning to buy at the time. In the same show I met with different vendors and dealers that specialize in tools like FESTOOL, POWERMATIC, DELTA and SAW STOP, some pretty amazing tools to be in any shop.
I decide to attend a “Woodworking in America 2015 Show” in Kansas which would be my first real trip to connect with new friends in the world content creators. At this same show I finally met Jimmy Diresta the God Father of YouTube and Instagram, this connection will be important later in my carrier. I later have the opportunity to help build Jimmy’s Dream Workshop in New York later in 2017.
Thanks to Jimmy I connected with Kyle Stumpenhorst from RR Buildings who built Jimmy’s Workshop and Kyle mentioned a trade show coming up in January in 2018 in Orlando, Florida, International Builder Show (IBS).
The power of Social media and connecting with the right people is crucial to succeed in this industry, this event went so well when I attended that I had a tremendous opportunity to reach brands that I already worked with on the job site. I was then able to speak with them about the importance of communication with my Latino Community in the USA 🇺🇸
To be honest in this particular show I did not see a lot of Latinos or Hispanics in this events, for me it was important to have spanish speaking people behind any Manufacturer, Materials and Tools Companies’ to be able to communicate with our Latino community in the Construction industry.
By attending a couple of trade shows in my career I was able to learn the latest products, technology and the opportunities available in my field to network with people in this industry allowing me to provide a better service to my clients.
So if you’re looking to grow your knowledge and experience I really recommend you go to these trade shows around the country. Investing in your self and business is the best way to ensure that you have a healthy business and a super healthy soul.
